Herculaeum versus Pompeii

If you've been to both, which do you think would appeal? Presumably you would know them better than anyone here.

We've done them both and I'd do the most convenient one - we love using the RS book as we go thru.

Having visited both, I would certainly recommend Pompeii using a tour guide. I would also suggest a visit to the Archaeological Museum in Naples.

I visited both sites last month. Herculaneum is much smaller and probably less visited so if you have limited time it may be the better choice. That said, we were driving so we parked right by the entrance. I don’t know how the walk from the train station compares to one from Pompei Scavi station to the Pompei site.
