Helping a friend with cooking school or classes in Italy

A friend of mine is starting to plan a trip to Italy for next September. One thing he would like to do when he is there is to taking a cooking class, possibly more than one day. He is a good cook and loves italian food and would like to learn how to make it when there. Has anyone done anything like this and if so where. Since we are just starting the planning this trip we have no set places to visit, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Let your fingers do the walking. Cooking classes of all shapes and sizes abound, private and with other people. Make sure you read reviews of each to pick the best suited for your friend.

We've taken three private classes on our two trips so far--one at a restaurant in Taormina, Sicily, one at a winery in the countryside of Chianti, and one at an apartment in Salerno. All were different from the others and fantastic. Coming up in March of this year is a class at a working farm on the tip of the Amalfi peninsula outside Sorrento, looking across the water at the island of Capri. Should be fun indeed.

I can recommend Alla Madonna del Piatto http://incampagna.com/ near Assisi.
Letizia and Ruurd have a wonderful B&B, and offer hands-on cooking classes that start with shopping in the local markets and concludes with a delicious meal of your own making.

When I was in in Rome I did a one day class with: http://www.cookwithusinrome.com/ They were wonderful. It started with a tour of the market at Campo de' Fiori then the cooking and eating.

I tried to book this class which had great reviews on this forum but since I was single and they had no other interest I had to go with the one in Rome. http://www.conviviorome.com/ They have multiple day classes.

Try Mama Agata in Ravello. She is a fabulous cook with her own cookbooks and the all day class has the ultimate views.....

Eating Italy offers food tours and cooking classes in Rome and Florence. I loved their Trastevere food tour and would guess that the cooking classes are just as good. Have fun!
