hello fellow travellers... I need some advice with some options of what to do while in Rome on the dates when the Vatican happens to be closed. those were the only dates we could be in that area as are travelling from the amalfi coast and heading back home from Rome. I have found that we can visit the colleseum and forum are open for visitors. IS there any other recommendations on places to see? Would we be able to at least walk around the vatican grounds? is it true lots of restaurants are closed during this time? first time travelling to Italy.
thank you
The Borghese Gallery is a good possibility, but with the mVatican closed, it's possible all the tickets have been snapped up. If interested, check right away.
There's tons to do in Rome. It all depends on your interests. You need to take a look at a guide book. There's also information right on this site. Click on "Explore Europe".
Edited to add: I don't know for sure, but I imagine that St. Peter's will still be open, even though the museums are closed.
