I picked my preferred tickets from Naples to Vernazza on Sat, July 23rd at 9:50am. Trenitalia has a deal on Saturdays for buy 1 get 1. I am trying to get this deal applied for my family of 4 (so that would be buy 2 get 2). But the discount is not being applied. It's second class and the base fare for one adult is 96euro. When I put in two adults, it comes up 192 euro?
Part of the problem is that promotion is not good on the regional trains which is the last train on the itinerary when you enter Naples to Vernazza. Try entering from Naples to La Spezia centrale to get the 2 for 1 deal. You must also put in 2 for the number of passengers for that offer to come up. Once you get to La Spezia you just take a regional train the 20 minutes to Vernazza. Donna
Thanks Donna, that did help somewhat. I can get the Bimbi (child under free discount), but it still won't give me the 2 for 1 discount that is supposed to have replaced the Bimbi discount from July - August. Only one of my kids qualifies for the Bimbi discount, so the 2 for 1 would be a better deal. I did find a great deal from Naples to La Spezia (direct!) on an IC train. Is the IC train comfortable and air conditioned for a 6 1/2 hour journey?
I just checked and the fare is available for your trip on the train you wish to take. Enter the trip Naples to La Spezia Centrale and your dates and the time of 09. On the next screen click on the 9:50 train. On the next screen enter 2 adults then you'll see the saturday 2 for 1 pop up. Just click on it and enter your details. Donna
Hi Donna, your right; it didn't work when I entered the four of us. I guess I'll have to do two transactions to get two 2 for 1 ticket prices for the four of us. Thanks!
Wow, I'm exhausted; but I think I got it all figured out.
I booked Naples to La Spezia and got the 2 for 1 "Saturday" discount for two adults (94 euro for two tickets, instead of each) and the Bimbi "Child" discount for my 13 year old and my 9 year old daughter (94 euro for two tickets, instead of each), so 188 euro total. I also booked La Spezia to Venice for all 4 of us for 113 euro using the Mini Fares. So glad that's done!
Glad it worked out for you. Trenitalia isn't always the easiest site to navigate but you seem to have gotten some good rates. donna
