Help with Transpotation

I will be traveling to Italy in May with my husband, we will be staying 3 nights Sorrento, 3 Taormina, 3 Palermo and 2 Rome. We will be flying into Naples on a Wed. and was wondering which is recommended for transport to Sorrento from the airport, bus, train or hyrofoil. Then again back to Naples Airport from Sorrento this time traveling on a Sunday (flight to Catania 2:30). Thank you for any advise you might have!

Taking the Bus from Naples Airport (and to, on return) is the only real option from Piazza Garabaldi (unless you want to spring for a cab) From there and back to Sorrento, it is a toss up between the train (the Circumvesuvia) and the ferry. The ferry may be faster, but runs much less frequently, the train probably cheaper, slower, and runs much more frequently. I would let timing dictate the choice, but the train tends to be the best and most dependable option for most.

The Curreri bus goes directly from the Naples airport to Sorrento in 1hr15min. There are eight buses/day, beginning at 09:00. The fare is €10.00. For the return journey if you leave Sorrento at 10:30, you'll arrive at the airport at 12:00, 2 1/2 hours before your flight. Or play it even safer and leave Sorrento at 09:00. See www.bus.it/curreri for complete timetables. The site is available in English. If it's a beautiful day when you arrive in Naples, you probably would enjoy taking a hydrofoil to Sorrento and admiring the view from the water.

Thank you Paul and Tim, very helpful! We love the idea of taking the Ferry and seeing the coast on our first trip to Sorrento, weather permitting of course. I will also print the Curreri bus schedule just in case. Thanks again for the great advise.
