Help with transportation and itinerary for Dolomites hut to hut

At the end of August, we will be doing a hut to hut hike starting at Seceda and traveling east ending in Misurina or Rifugio Auronzo. My issue is getting to Ortisei. This is what we have planned:

Day 1: Fly into Venice around 10:30 from the states. So, we will be tired.
Day 2: free (see discription below)
Day 3: Start at Seceda and stay at Utia de Puez
Day 4: Utia to Rif Capanna Piz Fassa or Rifugio Boe. I have sent inquires to Piz Fassa but I have not heard back from them. Should I just book Rifugio Boe? Any insight on getting into Rif Capanna Piz Fassa?
Day 5: Rifugio Boe or Piz Fassa to Rif Col Gallina (we wanted Lagazuoi but didn't get booked in time)
Day 6: Rifugio Col Gallina to Rifugio Nuvolau
Day 7: Rifugio Nuvolau to nothing booked yet. We want to hike around Passo Giau to Croda da Lago then Lago D'Ajal. I was thinking of staying in Cortina but nothing booked yet.
Day 8: Cortina to Rifugio Vandelli
Day 9: Rifugio Vandelli to Misurina (staying in Misurina)
Day 10: Will need to travel to Venice but would like to try to see Tre Cime somehow.
Day 11: Fly out at 12:30

I am really struggling with finding public transportation from Venice to the Ortisei area without a 5 plus hour transport. Is the best idea to stay in Verona or Bolzano the first night? Then travel the rest of the way to Ortisei on the second day or the day of the start of the hike? Hotels are pretty pricy in the area. We did want to try to get to a higher elevation before we start our hut to hut. But, I am not finding any good places for that first day that would be an easy transfer to Ortisei.

Does the rest of the itinerary seem doable? I know it might be a bit ambitious but we did similar distances in Switzerland. But, I have never been to the Dolomites and Ive just been going off of All Trails and the Topo Map.

Thank you for your time!

I can’t comment on your hiking route but to get from Venice to Ortesei takes awhile. We changed in Verona for Bolzano and then took a bus.

If you want to break it up, you could take a train to Verona from Venice after arrival. Then stay in Verona instead of Venice over night. The next day you would take the train to Bolzano and then the bus. Verona is a pleasant town with interesting historical sites and is cheaper than Venice. We stayed near the train station on a different trip and while not charming, it is convenient.

I certainly would plan to travel to Oresei on Day 2 and be there the night before you start your hiking trek.

If you haven’t booked your flights yet, you might consider flying in and out of Munich or Innsbruck. (Munich is usually cheaper.) Both cities have much to see if you want to rest up for a day or two, and from either place it’s very easy to get to Ortesei by train or even FlixBus.
