Help with train ticket confirmation

I bought tickets on lefrecce.it in April for a trip from Firenze to Spiez. I printed the information page with the train and seat information for our two tickets. I did not register because I was only purchasing that one trip. I wanted to see if I could change the seats, but now I see that I never got the email with the codes! Will this be a problem? I'm not sure what it's like picking up the tickets at the station in Florence. Our names are on the seat reservations. Will there be a problem without the codes? I tried emailing them, but it was in Italian, and didn't work. Our travel date is July 3rd.

laura,
did you check your spam folder for the email? Are you sure the charge went through? (meaning your credit card company didn't deny the charges?) To purchase on-line you don't need to register but you should have received an email with a PDF attachment which includes your train #, date of departure, time, carriage and seat numbers.

You don't pick up the tickets, you do need the PNR code that is in the email and in the PDF to show the conductor when they ask for tickets. Do you have a retrieval code by chance? You can use that code to look up your info.

I didn't register and was able to buy several tickets and received my email very quickly with the PDF attachment, also had a retrieval code. I used gmail and had no problems.

I would raise a couple of other questions. Are you certain that you have purchased tickets? Do you have the charge on your credit card? The charge would have gone through within 24 hours. It is not delayed.

Since the summer schedule don't go on line until just recently. It is possible that you could not purchase a ticket in April for July. Are you working off of the English site? Sending an email should get a response in English. When you say your tried emailing but it was in Italian what did that mean. Did you get a response? You do need that code.

I did get charged on April 9th. I checked all of my folders several times, but I'll do it again. There are some 6 digit numbers to the right of each seat reservation. I don't know what those numbers mean. I booked two trains: Firenze to milan Frecciarossa 9508, and Milan to Spiez Eurocity 52.

When I tried to contact them, the contact form email was in Italian. (Today) I got a response that sounded like my email couldn't go through. I will try to reply again and copy and paste it. If needed I can try to call them once I get my phone set up for international calls.

Thanks for your help.
One more question about one more blunder...
When I bought our Eurostar tickets I used my friends nickname instead of full name. (Cathe instead of Catherine) do you think that will be a problem when they check our tickets against passports?
Thanks again!

laura,

Regarding the last E-mail you received from Trenitalia, it seems to indicate....

We recommend that you do not respond to this message as the mailbox from which it was sent can not receive E-mail.
Dear Customer,
We confirm that we have received your request for assistance.

Of course that's a very rough translation as my Italian isn't perfect. Hopefully Roberto will spot this Thread, as he will be able to provide an exact translation.

You might check the excellent Ron In Rome website to see if the steps shown there match your purchase experience (scroll down to the "Travel Summary" section).

In the same situation, I'd probably visit a station agent as soon as arriving in Italy, and make sure everything is in order with the tickets.

Basically they are telling you that cannot send a reply to the mailbox because it will not receive email. Also, your question or request has been received. Nothing about an answer to your question.

I think they are just acknowledging your email.

You are OK with the Eurostar tickets. They are not checking you against any TSA no fly list. You need to checkin at least 30 minutes early for the Eurostar because you have to go through an airport style of security screening.

I checked the Ron in Rome web site. It says that without the code I have no ticket. I will try and call them next week and see if they can help me. Thanks for your help. Sure wish I had checked on it sooner!

Good news! They sent a reply with a PNR. Hurray! (Dancing here!) that should allow me to pick up the tickets in Florence, right? I went on Trenitalia and was able to look up the purchase.

What got me started looking into this was that I was thinking of changing seats. I booked seats at the window facing each other. Family members have said, "oh no... You want them both facing forward." What do you think? Can we adjust seating later if wanted? On the train?

Thanks very much for your help!

Also be sure to take with you the credit card you used to purchase the tickets.

I know you are required on the Germany rail to have the credit card that you used to purchase the ticket. However, I am not aware of that being a requirement for Italy. I have never showed. Probably a good idea to have it but probably don't need it. I think seating is a matter of preference. Some don't like riding backwards. At least when facing each other you don't have to worry too much about intertwining legs with a stranger. Obviously if seats are empty you can move around. Since most rail cars are designed to run in either direction it may be hard to get a seat that is guaranteed to be going forward.
