help with train and bus schedules

I'm wondering if I might not be reading train and bus schedules correctly. When I look at buses leaving Siena for Assisi on Saturday, June 25th, I see a departure only at 17.15. There is a departure listed at 13.40, but I'm not sure what the "Ven." signifies at the bottom of the column. I'm assuming "Giorn." at the bottom of the column means daily, but I'm not too sure. Also, on the train schedule leaving Assisi for Rome on Sunday, June 26, I see only two trains available--- one at 8:58 and one at 19:51. Am I reading these schedules correctly?
I really appreciate any help with this. It's a factor in determining whether or not we'll drive or bus and train it. Thanks in advance for your help. Marge

I am looking at the Baltour Schedule that I think you must be looking at. "Ven." is for venerdi or Friday in Italian. You are correct that "Gior." is Daily (Giornali in Italian). As to the train from Assisi to Rome on Sunday June 26, it seems there is only one at 17:41. It arrives in Rome at 19:51. The 8:58 is an arrival in Rome the next morning and it departs Assisi at 06:16.

There are 13 trains a day from Assis to Rome. There are even a few Eurostars now. You're just looking out to far on Trenitalia. Trenitalia ukdates their schedules in mid-June. Thus you won't see accurate train schedules now if you look beyond. Here's a link to what I see about a week from now. http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/nppPriceTravelSolutions.do?lang=en&stazin=assisi&stazout=rome&datag=27&datam=05&dataa=2011&timsh=06&timsm=00&nreq=5&stazin_r=Staz_DA&stazout_r=Staz_A&datag_r=&datam_r=&dataa_r=&timsh_r=&timsm_r=00&nreq_r=5&npag=1&sort=0&economy=0&det=&solotreno=0&noreservation=0&traintype=&car=0

Just a small explanation for Laurel and Marge. Yes, GIORN. does mean daily, but it stands for "giornaliera." Giornali is Italian for newspapers.

Thanks for the helpful responses. Larry, I'm going to check out the links you posted for those schedules. Thirteen trains a day from Assissi to Rome sounds a lot better than what I was seeing!

Marge, again, I recommend that you put in a date not past June 9 to see the full current train schedule. Also, put in an early hour (i.e. 05). This will display the early trains. You can always click on NEXT to see later trains. If you put in a later date (I just put in June 15), you will only see the two Eurostar runs and not the 11 other Regionale train runs that I describe above. This is a crazy time of the year for we who regularly help with Italian train schedules. We can't see accurate schedules beyond mid-June.

Larry, this is very helpful advice and I'll definitely not input a date past June 9, and I'll input an early hour. This is good to know. I hate to ask again, but can anyone tell from the bus schedule how many buses would leave Siena for Assisi on Saturday, June 25? I only see two available. Is this right or is it not possible to tell bus schedules this far in advance? Thanks again, everyone. Marge
