Hello! We will be spending 2 weeks in Italy in June. Our initial plan was to fly into Venice and spend 2 nts then travel to Florence. From Florence head to Rome and onto Sorrento. We intended to fly home from Naples but the flights for multicity travel are outrageous and we have searched every combination possible. Our best bet to keep the cost of flights semi reasonable is to fly in and out of Rome. Looking for some help on the best itinerary. Heading to venice and then backtracking to florence, then Rome just to transfer and off to Sorrento then returning to Rome at the end to tour the city for a few days? Or skip Venice and go to Rome , Florence, back to Rome only to get train to Sorrento and then back to Rome for our flight home? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
A thousand pardons if you have tried this, but did you price Milan? And set up price alerts on Google Flights, which is just for research, always buy directly from the airlines.
Many folks have been complaining about airfare prices, then have searching around, over days and weeks, and finally found fares they could live with.
Best of luck!
PS Never skip Venice, IMHO.
Safe travels!
Have you tried IN to Milan OUt of Rome?
Ooops or what Pat said ;)
PS
Travel to and within Sorrento/ AC is very time- consuming due to the poor infrastructure and congestion. If you're going there, you need 4-5 days, (which includes the travel.) I'd pick three destinations.
Two weeks isn't enough for four destinations.
Hopefully it will all work out.
Get two AA Aviator cards and fly free…
I appreciate the suggestions but we have tried every combination imaginable even flying into Milan, Pisa, Verona and everything is well over $1500 RT. Maybe thats a good price, i'm not sure but I wasnt expecting to pay that much. Like I said the most affordable option is in and out of Rome, I just have to figure out the best itinerary. These are my ideas keeping in mind I would be flying in and out of Rome. It kills me to skip venice but I just dont think i'll have enough time to get there with all the travelling.
Option 1:
Venice 2 nts
Florence 3 nts
Rome 3 nts
Sorrento 5 nts
Option 2:
Florence 4 nts
Rome 4 nts
Sorrento 5 nts
Option 3:
Florence 4 nts
Sorrento 5 nts
Rome 4 nts
Whatever you choose, be sure to have your Rome nights at the end.
Trying to get from Sorrento to Rome on the day of the flight is suicidal and likely make for a VERY expensive trip home.
Yes that’s the itinerary I’m leaning towards for that reason.
