I have a few questions, and have always found great guidance on this site. Firstly, our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) are arriving at Rome Fiumicino at 7:45PM in mid April and taking a train to Naples that night (and then traveling to Sorrento to sleep). Question #1, should I go ahead and purchase train tickets (Trenitalia from Fiumicino to Napoli Centrali, Bimbi Gratis rate) now, to secure a good price? There are trains at 8:53 and 9:23 that I think we could make. I do want to get moving because our B&B owner is meeting us later than normal because of our late flight. I know the trains won't sell out but I do like having a schedule and saving money!
Question #2, since we are unable to reach Naples before the last Circumvesuvius train departs to Sorrento, is hiring a car service to pick us up at Centrale and take us to Sorrento our best option? Maybe our only option? And again, should I book that now, even though I'm not sure what time we will arrive? Or I guess I could book the 9:23 train, giving us plenty of time in the airport, and then book the car service. I'd like to tell the B&B owner an approximate arrival time.
Any other thoughts? Thanks for the advice.
Car service is your only option. Too late in the day. Or spend the night in Rome or Naples and see some things there before going on to Sorrento. Plan your return trip now, too.
Are you making the journey to Sorrento after arriving in Rome on a transatlantic flight?
Ok, car service seems to be the thing.
We are expats living in Israel, so less than a 3 hr flight.
Can't you get a flight to Naples?
