We will be in Sorrento for 6 days and have 8 other days to fill before flying out of Rome home. On my list is CT , possibly staying in Vernazza, but wondering where to stop on our way for a night or two. Would it be better to stay somewhere else and take day trips? Lucca is another stop I’d love to go, don’t like to pack too much in and not enjoy the stops. Will CT be too touristy in October? Also, we were planned on taken the train but have driven in the past.
Thanks for any help.
You can take a direct (no transfer) train from Naples Central station to Monterosso (7h). It does not stop in Lucca but it does stop at Pisa’s central station. The Intercity 522 departs at 17:31 arriving in Monterosso at 00:22.
There’s a direct train from Pisa’s central station to Lucca (30m): https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html.
