Help with Florence- Firenze card?? Help with itinerary

Hi all-
My friend and I are traveling this June to Rome, then Poppi (Arezzzo) to a cooking school and then to Florence. I am tryng to figure out how to do the Firenze card- so confusing! I am figuring out whether to purchase any of this now and am unclear as how to proceed.

It is my understanding that when we get to Florence we can get the card and then we can just show up to Uffizi and Accademia flash the card and get in....no need for reservations or anything....maybe wait a few minutes but basically skip the line. The card is appealing because we can use it at many places with the discount, instead of just getting reservations on line for Uffizi and Accademia. Am I right in making this assumption?

Also is this do-able...
Day 1 (Saturday) we get in a 2--
Duomo, Baptistry of San Giovanni, Giotto's Bell Tower, Renaissance Walk
too much getting in at 2?

Day 2 (Sunday) trip to CT with a tour

Day 3 ( Monday) Uffizi and Accademia and what else??

Day 4 (Tuesday) Church of Santa Maria Novella, Ponte Vecchio, Balilicia of San Minieto al Monte
and what else?

Of these places what is covered with the Card? Where else should we go to maximize the Card?

What are we missing? is there a better way to organize our time by areas?
Any help would be much appreicated!

I haven't used the card, so I can't answer that. The list of sights covered is here There's a map that shows where everything is and if you click on a "bubble" it shows the name and a link to the website.

If you like sculpture, add the Bargello to your list, it's close to the Uffizi - but then, nothing in Florence is very far from anything else.

Kirsten - the Accademia and Uffizi are closed on Mondays so you need to rearrange your schedule.

Now that you have the list of attractions covered by the Firenze card, you should make a list of those you wish to see - and realistically have time for - and their normal entry fees. Add those up and compare that figure to the price of the pass. We didn't purchase that one as we didn't want or need the transport piece which kicks up the price: Florence is relatively compact and easy to get around on foot. We were also there for 5 days so the Friends of the Uffizi pass worked better for us but I don't recommend for you.

I think you have too much going on during Day 1: I assume when you say you're getting in at 2:00, that's landing time at the airport?

The Firenze card is pretty expensive so make sure that you want to go to most sites on that card. Other wise it is very easy to go on the web sites that are listed in the Rick Steve's Italy book and buy separate tickets. If you are only going to those two places it would be much easier and cheaper to buy on line and then you can skip the big lines. You should be able through the guide book to look up everything covered on the card.

Thanks for catching my mistake about the Monday closure- I do have CT for monday for that reason:)

We are training it in from Arezzo and are due to arrive around 1:30. Trying to find something for that little bit of the day is proving harder than we thought. Does it seem like a good idea to do the Renaiisance walk and get a feeling for the city for that bit of the day? If we drop off our luggage at hotel and taxi it to the Duomo we should be there to start the walk aroundd 3.

Does anyone have a better suggestion for that small part of the day? Based on that we think we'll rework our schedule.
