Help with fine/fee for tollbooth for Italian Autostrada please:

Entering the Italian autostrada, I went through a toll and received a ticket/card that said Telepass on it. On exiting the Autostrada I - stupidly - went to the lane that said Telepass on it. There was no place to give money. I pushed the button and a man started yelling at me in Italian. I kept asking him for help and he kept yelling. He then, after a long pause (I pushed the help button again) opened the bar to let me pass through. I realize now i went to the wrong lane. I am assuming they captured my license and I need to pay ASAP. Does anyone know how I pay? I couldn't find anything when I tried googling the information.
Thank you!

This happened us also several years ago and we never heard from them about it. We did not get a fine. We have been back since and still no word from them. I would not worry about it.

I'm betting that, since somebody let you through, you got a waiver.

Just wait until/if you get a bill, then you can wire the money. You may not even get a bill!

So you don't have anything informing you of a fine? If they let you through, nobody came to the booth etc I wouldn't worry about it.

OK. Thanks Elaine, I will do that. I was frazzled because we just left the Tronchetto and the GPS had me (literally) going in circles. It also tried to have me turn where there were none and go in directions that were (one-way) impossible. I love-hate that GPS - lol!

Ron, there was no booth. It was just a bunch of lanes with a staircase going down by each lane. I am pretty sure that the staircases were for employees and that I was not supposed to get out of my car.

The "telepass" lane at toll plazas in Italy is reserved for those paying by electronic transponder. That's why the attendant was yelling at you. That's why there was no booth. The lines with the blue card symbol are for credit cards only - but magnetic stripe cards might not work. Best to go through the lanes with the white overhead signs. Some of these are automated and some are manned (you can tell by the symbols on the sign). These accept cash or credit card.
