Help with Dec. 2017 itinerary. Incl Northern Italy & Florence.

We are beginning to make plans for a Dec. trip to Italy where we want to see Venice, Florence (we've seen them before, but loved them and want to repeat). We also want to see some of the Italian Christmas Markets & we've read that Verona, Bolzano, & Trento are worth seeing. Any other suggestions?

So, we are thinking of flying into Venice - 3nights
Train to Verona - 2 nights
Train to Trento - 2 nights
Train to Bolzano - 2 nights
Train to Florence - 5 nights.

We are very open to other ideas, places, etc. We won't have a car. Would be willing to add more time/days if needed. Thanks!!

Not sure what weather you can expect in December, but I would think it could close in quite quickly. Bolzano and Trento are as little as 30mins apart by train, so it makes sense to choose a single destination, maybe even higher up Val Gardena at Ortisei. Perhaps 3 nights in Verona, with a possible Lake Garda day trip if weather permits, followed by 3 nights at a single Dolomite destination.
