Help with 14 day itinerary

Hi everyone,
Any help is greatly appreciated!

My family of four (kids 14 & 17) plan on an Italy trip from June 17 till July 2 so we will have 14 nights to work with.

My husband and I have visited Florence, Rome and Cinque Terre before and loved them all. This time around, I want to visit Venice and the Amalfi coast, in addition to Florence and Rome. Because of difficulty with flights in the past, I really want to get a direct flight out of Dallas to Rome, so we won’t have connections or potential for delays on the first half of the trip. Ideally, it would be wonderful to fly into Naples and out of Venice, but those flights are complicated and pricey. So we will likely fly into Rome and out of Venice although we’d have to do some backtracking which is annoying.

This is what I am initially thinking. Please let me know if you think this is doable or if an adjustment could be made.

6/17 leave TX
6/18 Arrive in Rome at 8:00 AM
6/18-6/22 Rome (3 1/2 days for touring, 4 nights) chose to do Rome first so we won't have to worry about timing of trains
6/22 -6/25 Naples, pompeii, Amalfi coast (2 1/2 days for touring, 3 nights)
6/25 - 6/29 Florence (3 1/2 days for touring, 4 nights).....possible day excursion in this timeframe to siena or san g
6/29 - 7/1 Venice (2 1/2 days for touring, 3 nights)
7/2 fly out of Venice
my math right? should be 14 nights
I realize this may be a lot of movement, but I want to pack it all in because I don't foresee a 3rd italy trip in our future. There is a lot of world still to see!

Thank you for any suggestions and helping me out!

really want to get a direct flight out of Dallas to Rome

Finnair, Iberia and American have direct flights from Dallas to Rome but I don’t see any between Venice and Dallas. If you fly home from Venice, make sure it’s not too early of a flight or else you’ll need to take an expensive water taxi to the airport. Otherwise, you can catch a bus from Piazzale Roma. It looks like busses begin running before 6a. Check with your hotel. A lot of people prefer flying into Venice and out of Rome.
If you arrive in Rome at 8a take the direct train from the Fiumicino Aeroporto station to Napoli Centrale departing the airport at 9:38a and arriving in Naples at 11:33. Visit the Amalfi Coast first and Rome second.

6/22 -6/25 Maybe stay in Sorrento instead of Naples and visit Capri one day and Amalfi Coast another. Not sure if possible, but try to visit Pompeii on your way from Rome to Sorrento.

I think you have a great plan! We've done some adventurous multi city tours like this in th east, so just be prepared to have add in a few lazy afternoons here and there when everyone gets cranky and LOTS of gelato to make everyone happy again. But you have a good amount of nights in each city I believe, busy but doable.

I totally agree on the comment about staying out of Naples; we like Sorrento as a home base for that area. We did Pompeii, Capri (our fav) and Amalfi coast and choose to totally skip Naples.

One other thought, we're in the middle of planning a Florence trip, and you may want to use your one day excursion to do some kind of driving tour/bus tour into the Tuscan hillside rather than seeing another large town. Or a tour that allows you to pop in a hill town for lunch or something.
