Help with 10 day (9 nights) Italy trip starting and ending in Rome during Easter April 1-10

Hello,

We are a family of 6, youngest is 12 traveling to Italy for the first time and taking my very active mother in law who is turning 70. We are landing in Rome @7am. Currently my itinerary is Rome 2 nights, Florence 3 nights (we would like to spend Easter in Florence), Cinque Terre 2 nights, Lucca 1 night and then back to Rome for 1 more night.
Is this doable? Please help!

It really depends on you and your group, but I can say that traveling as a couple, I would not plan such a fast paced itinerary. It can be time consuming to move six people.
I would choose no more than three stops in a 9 night trip. You could go to Florence on arrival, then go to Lucca (from which you can day trip to CT), then finish in Rome. Still a lot, and it messes up the Easter plan, but much more manageable.

Thank you so much for your response. After reading your post we are cutting it down to Rome 2 nights, Florence 3 nights and wither Lucca or Bologna 3 nights and the back to Rome for a final night before departure. My mother in law really wants to see as much as she can while she’s in good health. Still deciding on either Lucca or Bologna

With a 7AM arrival you have time to go to any of the 'other' destinations that you are considering on the arrival day.

Spend the 3 nights ( 4.5.6) in Florence and finish the last 3 night in Rome.

It saves a hotel change and with as little time as you have to spread as far as you want to go, every bit of time saving is important

Check into flying open jaws out of Florence. The Airport is much more manageable and you save money and time vs returning to Rome...that's worth a lot of money on such a short trip. You can probably change your flight with no fee.
