HELP!!! What to do?

I am renting a car and driving over most of Italy's countryside, but I don't know what to do with my rental car as I spend two nights in Venice? Is there a safe parking solution for people who have cars who want to stay in venice??

Thank you so much for your time!!!! I really appreciate any advice you can give me! Thank you!

Marie,

Note that to drive in Italy, you'll require the compulsory International Driver's Permit which must be used in conjunction with your home D.L. These can be obtained at very reasonable cost from any AAA office (Passport-sized photos required).

Also, be careful to avoid the dreaded Zona Traffico Limitato zones. Driving through one of the automated Cameras will result in some expensive tickets!

Happy travels!

yes, look for the zona traffico limitado signs. It will get you if you are over the speed limit. Go on line and see what the signs and the camera box look like.

When you drive in to Venice proper, if you stay in the right hand lane, you will end up in the line to the parking garages there. I do agree with the advice to turn the car in there and pick up another one on the way back out. No sense paying for a car you can't really use.

Umm, David, the ZTLs don't exist in Venice and have nothing to do with driving speed. In other Italian cities, they are zones closed to non-resident traffic. That's not an issue in Venice, because you can't drive there.

Parking in Venice is easy in the big garages just as you cross the bridge from the mainland.
