Help! Uffizi and Accademia tickets

I've read you need to buy them at least a week in advance, but when I went to the website they're booked solid for most of August! I'll be in Florence on Aug. 14th - is there any way to get a reservation? If not, how long can I expect to wait to get in?

Contact your hotel and ask them to make reservations for you. I was in Florence last month, and in my case at least, I got it done with less than a week's notice. I emailed my hotel on July 20th, and they were able to make reservations for me for July 24th. Good luck!

Call them directly (the number is posted somewhere on the rick steves website). When I booked a few weeks ago, the times I wanted weren't available on the web, but they were when I called the direct booking at the museum. I suspect the online stores get less allocation.

Call your hotel. we were there in July and though we had made our reservations many weeks earlier, i saw guests who were just checking who were requesting reservations for the day after. Though that is too risky, I would say a week or two before may work. My hotel emailed me a reservation number (at no cost), I was able to print that email and get in without standing in line. At the musuem you will pay an extra fee (3 Euro,I think) for the reservation.

When my husband and I were there last year, we went to the Uffizi about one hour before closing and walked right in. We practically had the whole place to ourselves so if all of the other suggestions do not work, you could try this. Good luck!

It worked out in the end - we were fortunate enough to be there on a Thursday, and apparently that's one of the best days for lines. We waited about 20min for Accademia and 30min for Uffizi.

Beware of that b-ticket website. I went on it on August 5 and paid with my American Express card for tickets to both Uffizi & Accademia for Spetember 6. The service charge was four euros per each ticket (16 euros total). The worst part is that I got a message saying I would receive a confirmation code within two days that I should take to the museums to pick up my tickets. No confirmation code was ever sent although they charged my credit card. So now I have no way to pick up tickets. I emailed their "help" address three times with no response at all!!! When you call the phone number they tell you they are a separate operation and cannot help with problems on the website!I have filed a dispute against them with American Express.

Just call the phone number. It is much easier. We got reservations doing that with no problem and asved the 16 euros, too. And we will nothave topay until we get there.

I used the B-ticket site to get tickets to the Accademia & received the e-mail with my reservation code. Later, I tried to get tickets for the Uffizi & no matter how hard I tried I could not get the purchase to go through! So, I e-mailed the hotel I will be staying in & the lady quickly made my reservations for me. I should have done that for the Accademia.

Do you think your Spam filter might have gotten your reply from the company?

We used www.tickitaly.com for our top five must see sights in Rome and Florence (Vatican, Borghese, Colosseum/Roman Forum, Accademia and Uffizi). Of course, there was a fee for the service, but we we're willing to pay to avoid wasting time waiting in long lines. Also, it was very user friendly and I was able to reserve all five in one stop shopping rather than trying to navigate five different locations with different rules and various communication barriers.

For the Uffizi, without a reservation you can be waiting easily two or three hours. The Accademia might be a little less than that, but still too long when there's so many other fabulous things to see and do.

Good luck!
