Help trains in Italy

So I bought business class flex tickets from Malpensa to Venice on Italio. Unfortunately the apartment we are staying at says we have to be there by 6 to check in. The train arrives at 9. There are only 2 Italio trains on the 17th after our flight arrives at 12:30. So the host said to use true Italian that has earlier trains.
Since I have a flex ticket can I change to a different train-I will need one for Rome to Cinque Terre. Should I buy the tickets now to Venice when I land? So confused. Any help appreciated!

I think you mean Trenitalia? ( not “true Italian”)

ItaloTreno and Trenitalia are completely different companies so your ItaloTreno flex tickets won’t be any good for a Trenitalia train

If you post the date ( which month) of your travel we might be able to help you change your ItaloTreno tix

In general it is always best to wail til arrival to purchase any train tix for that day

If it is really a flex ticket you probably can get a refund. Do that, and just buy another ticket then with Trenitalia. As to changing to a different train, that is not really possible. Tickets are for a route, and while you can move your reservations, you cannot change the route.

Your flight arrives from where? If you have to clear passport control, you are cutting it really close to be at your Venice lodging by 6PM.

MXP to Milan Central is about an hour, (once on the train). Add a bit of time to change trains then add the 2.5 hr trip to Venice and then from the train station to where ever your lodging is and being there by 6PM is a tight fit.

If you cannot check in later than 6PM, can you get to Milan earlier? Is flying into Venice not an option?

Italo shows a 20% fee to process a refund.

I think the loss on the Italo tickets is the least of your problems
