Help Please! Need reasonable room rates in Florence

We will be in Florence Dec 30-Jan 2 (over NY Eve) and understand it is not filled with low prices on rooms, but surely there are some in a safe area that are in the 80-90EUR per night per double room price range. Any suggestions will be appreciated..apartment /B&B definitely an option.

Try Hotel Alba. Walking distance from train station and close to excellent restaurants. I haven't stayed there, but sister-in-law has and loved it. Euros 90 in July for my trip.

Hotel Enza is 10-15 min from the train station and about the same to all the other sites. I stayed there last spring and found it quite nice and convenient. Also inexpensive.

Try www.bellevuehouse.it It was recommended by Rick's guidebook. I am staying there next week. They have been extremely helpful with setting up reservations at the museum. It also appears on the Best hotel list on the site several times. I am paying 80 euro a night for a double with private bath.

Stayed in Hotel Enza last May and was very pleased. Very friendly staff and nice size rooms, easily accessible from the train station.

We also stayed at Bellevue House and loved it. The staff (Ricardo?) were great. The only catch is that it is on the top floor of a palazzo without a lift. I seem to recall it was about the 4th or 5th floor. And the steps are a short height and long depth, so it's a very odd climb. But it had wonderful views from our room and the location is fairly convenient, being fairly near the train station.

Thanks to all who replied. We booked rooms at the Istituto Gould for 56 Euro per night/double room. It was highly recommended by a couple from Oregon..great deal for the price. Bellevue is my 2nd choice if their rates change..we will continue to check. We are staying at the San Lorenzo Apt. in Rome (through cross-pollinate.com) and at the Corte Campany B&B in Venice.

I have not been there yet as we go to Florence in May but we booked at Hotel Cestelli for 80 euros per nite for a double with a shared bath.

I have used Pensione Bretagna, Lungarno Corsini 6, 50123 Florence. It is authentic, personable and overlooks the Arno River. Also Hotel Nuova Italia, Via Faenza 26, Florence. It is near the train st. and in the midst of the major street market area. Both include breakfast, have english speaking staff and give you the feel of true Italian lodging. Both can be found and contacted online.
buona fortuna !!
