Where are you flying home from? Rome? What are you interests? Where in Tuscany will you be from 6-9 July? Have you done any research and what are your current thoughts on places you might like to see?

If you can put a little more effort into your questions and provide more information people will put more effort into their answers.

CAT,

What the others said. It's very difficult to provide specific suggestions without more specific information as reference. As this is your first time in Italy, there will be a bit of a "learning curve", especially with using public transportation.

Are you interested in historic cities, art, countryside, museums, food/wine, sports? Anything you want to avoid?

Thanks Cat. Arriving on the 3rd, I would stay in Rome and then head to San Gimignano on the 6th. Personally, I would hire a car in Rome and drive there as a car will be useful in the Tuscan countryside. I would then drop the car in Florence on the 9th. Others will advise you on ZTLs.

I would stay in Florence on the nights of the 9th, 10th and 11th. Maybe do a trip to Pisa by train. Then I would go to Venice for the nights of 12th, 13th and 14th. I would have the night of the 15th somwhere like Verona, Padua or Bologna (breaking the one night rule). Then a late afternoon train to Rome on the 15th. That would give you the 16th in Rome.

Others may point you to the Cinque Terre. Personally I find this area unpleasantly crowded in the middle of summer (mind you the cities are busy too) but it is beautiful.

You need to do some reading to see if some of my and others suggestions appeal to you. Even a web search on top ten attractions of Venice, Padua...... will start to give you an idea.
