Have reservations for Vernazza tomorrow night.Just read where weekend parking at train station in LaSpezia may fill up .Tried to get reservations to underground parking but site requires registration and appears we need an Italian code to register ! So, any insights into parking in La Spezia from you travelers ?
I know you must be feeling stressed about this, so I googled and found a great blog site with detailed info. It sounds like less than half the spaces are bookable online anyway!
The URL:
https://cinqueterreinsider.com/2015/04/16/parking-a-great-alternative-for-those-driving-to-cinque-terre/
Here's some of the text from that site, in case you don't have internet. Good Luck! (We loved Vernazza, even rented a little boat at the dock, check out NordEst Boat Rentals!):
"What happens if I want to book a space but the website says none are available?
Keep in mind that only a limited number of parking spaces can be reserved in advance and those are on the -2 level of the garage (which is the lower level and has its point of access from via Fiume). The remaining spaces at the -2 level and all of the spaces on the -1 level of the garage (with entrance at via Paleocapa) will be available on a first come, first served basis. There are automated signs at the entrance to both levels of the garage showing precisely how many spaces are available."
"Aside from the Park Centro Stazione garage beneath the station, La Spezia offers two other underground public payment parking garages: Park Kennedy (run by ATC, the same company that runs Park Centro Stazione and the public city buses) and Europa_Park (run by the Chamber of Commerce). Neither of these parking garages currently offer the possibility to book a space in advance nor are they within close walking distance to La Spezia Centrale train station (or the secondary station called La Spezia Migliarina), so you’ll want to grab a taxi. Once you are at La Spezia Centrale you can easily connect to the Cinque Terre villages by catching a Cinque Terre Express train. "
A similar question was asked here recently. One response was:
Consider using the privately operated garage near the station. There's a link in the parking section near the bottom of this article: https://www.apathtolunch.com/2018/02/every-answer-cinque-terre-travel-guide.html
There are also two other garages, Kennedy and Europa, that are do-able especially if you drop off your baggage and passengers first. Info listed in this article: https://cinqueterreinsider.com/2017/07/16/parking-more-parking-garage-options-in-la-spezia/
