Help on rental car choices

We are going to Italy in late May and planning to get a car in Florence, use it in Tuscany (staying in Chianti) and then dropping it off as we head to Sorrento. I am wondering the best choice to make it easiest. Can we pick up at train stations in Florence and drop at train station in Rome? Would that make the most sense? We look forward to the help.

If you start in Florence and then go directly to Sorrento, you should return the car in Sorrento.

I generally use consolidators to rent cars.
www.autoeurope.com
www.kemwel.com
(both are now part of the same company but prices may vary)
They work with the major companies like Europcar and Hertz.

Pick Up:
FLORENCE ALL LOCATIONS
Florence rentals are not at the station, they are on Borgo Ognissanti, a few blocks from the station. Hertz also has a couple of locations outside the city center which would be convenient (one on Via Ambrosoli and one on Via Del Sansovino)

Return:
SORRENTO
I think all offices are on Via Roma.

Thank you for your help. So, the location to rent a car closest to the train station that could take us to Rome, etc, would be the Borgo Ognissanti location?

Much appreciate the assistance.

And, is that the same as Santa Maria Novella? Each car site lists them differently.

Thanks

No, Santa Maria Novella is not the same as Borgo Ognissanti. The latter is closer to the river.

Look at Europecar, they have a location on Borgo Ognissanti that allows drop off in Sorrento on Corso Italia, the main road coming into Sorrento that is not in a ZTL zone.
