Help - Need Farm House/Winery to Stay at in Tuscany

I've nearly finalized my honeymoon trip through Italy, with the exception of one aspect - a farm house in the Tuscany region. We have set aside two days as we travel between Florence and Rome to explore Tuscany. When we return from day trips exploring Sienna, San Gimigano, and the wineries of the region, we were hoping to relax and sleep at a local farm house/winery.

Our main goal is to return to a comfortable location that will provide a somewhat communial setting, allowing us the opportunity to enjoy local food and wine over dinner while comparing the experience with other travelers.

There seems to be so many options for this, that my head is spinning. So, can someone recommend a location like the one I've described, that will be somewhat centrally located and cost no more that 120 euros per night?

Brian,

We stayed at il Canto del Sole about 10 kilometers south of Siena in September of 2006. It is called a bed and breakfast but it is on a farm with very nice and comfortable accomodations. The hosts are Luciano and his wife and young son. They offer dinner on some nights. Other guests were from Germany and Italy. We only paid 85 Euro for a beautiful room. I would definitely say you need a car to get there, even though they came to the train station to pick us up and take us back. We tried to book for last April but they were full. It's a place that was a best kept secret but now the word is getting out. Here is the link to their website:http://www.ilcantodelsole.com/inglese/index.htm.

Hi Brian,
My husband and I also stayed at Il Canto del Sole and we recommend it highly ! It is exactly what you are describing. We enjoyed our time there thoroughly, met some wonderful people from France and Great Britain, and especially enjoyed our Italian host family, Laura & Luciano. The meals that Laura prepared for us, shared in the cozy farmhouse setting with their family and other guests, made memories we will always cherish. The location of the farmhouse was perfect for visiting Siena and other hilltowns in the area. Absolutely beautiful and serene setting and charming rooms too. We loved it !

I stayed at http://www.agriturismomarciano.it/ It is a vinyard and olive grove.
It was right outside the city of Sienna, close to the highway, Chianti was about 20 mins, Montalcino about 35, great location. The owner Nadia and her husband produce wine and olive oil. She is an amazing cook, they will cook for the whole house, but its like 45 euro pp. Worth it! They were friendly, but the not as friendly as other poeple we stayed with. The rooms were really nice. Met people from all over the world. Check out Castello Banfi, amazing estate, produces one of the best brunellos in Italy, you have to make reservations. http://www.castellobanfi.com/

Another vote for Il Canto del Sole. Luciano makes his own white wine, which is quite tasty. Lovely people and a beautiful location! www.tripadvisor.com has additional reviews.
