I thought I had everything done and now I realize that I never set up transportation from the airport to our hotel for Thursday! What are my non-taxi, cheap options? Thanks!
Erin
And for those other "Oh, no!" moments yet to come, I sure hope you have the RS Italy 2011 book and that you take it with you. Best money you will spend on your vacation. For an excellent online resource, go to Ron in Rome. Here's his page on Getting to and from FCO Happy travels.
Erin:
You can take the Leonardo express from FCO to Termini. I think it is 14 euros. From Termini you can take a cab or public transportation.
If you are more than 2 people, though, a taxi isn't an unreasonable expense at a fixed 40 euros to a central Rome hotel. Leonardo Express is 14 euro per person. There are also shuttle van transfers, but at about 18-19 euro/pp, I'd pay a couple euros more and go for the taxi and not deal with letting other guests off along the way. Just look for kiosks near baggage claim--I can't recall the name of the company I used previously.
The SITBUS shuttle to Termini is 8E. It doesn't get much cheaper.
