Help Nedded with Train from CT to Pisa

On July 3, I plan to travel from Vernazza to Pisa. I'd like to catch a train between 8:00 and 9:00 am and I imagine I'll have to switch trains at some point. I'm trying to get an idea of schedule options so that I can reserve my tickets to climb the Tower.

I'm having no luck searching the recommended sites myself so I'm hoping someone here can help.

Grazie!

Thank you all! It must be the three month thing that was tripping me up as I did try both those sites.

I'm sure the schedule won't change much from June to July so I'll go with tht suggestion for my initial planning. I have to wait till 45 days out to make the Tower reservation anyway so I can re-check then.

Thanks again!

Trenitalia shows timetables up to 60 days in advance for domestic routes and up to 90 days in advance for international routes which either begin or end in Italy. bahn.de shows timetables up to around 13 June. New timetables will go into effect throughout Europe in mid June.

The Bahn site will load new timetables in April and May as they released by each country's national rail site. Trenitalia is notorious for being last to do so.

Paula, the bahn.de site is really great but why not view the real deal. www.trenitalia.com

CLICK HERE to see the actual train schedule. Yes, the schedules will be updated in June but, most train runs will remain the same or changed slightly. For the time period you want, you will change trains once. Note that for the 8:31am train, you will go North to Monterosso to catch the train going south.

Two notes. First, you can't make reservations on an R train. Not permitted. To see the fares click on "All Solutions Prices".

This website is the most user friendly of the European train schedule websites:http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/enCountry names not needed. Input your time. Date doesn't matter, put in your specific date if you know it, otherwise just any day during the week (if during the week) or any weekend date (if during the weekend). Our train gurus here seem to prefer the official Trenitalia.com website, www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html.Write back if you have any specific questions about how to use that website. It's what we use here to answer questions like yours.

I checked the site that Kent recommended, chose a random day, and it showed a 08:19 departure from Vernazza, a switch in Monterosso, and arrival in Pisa at 10:15. Obviously you will want to try the search yourself to make sure you are searching the right day, as the schedules vary based on the day of the week/time of the year.

Frank some of us use this one. ;-)

But I really think the problem is that trenitalia won't let you see the schedule more than three months out.

So as Frank said just pick the same day of the week closer to today's date.

On June 6, a Friday, there is an 8:19 from Vernazza that gets into Pisa Centrale at 10:15 connecting through Monterosso. Or a 7:16 then gets in at 8:46 through La Spezia.

Those time frames will probably be about the same in July.

Paula,

Kent made a good point in suggesting to check out the Bahn train website.

Another way to check out the train transportation in Italy is to look at the Trenitalia website at www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html . It has an English site to help you out, but you can enter your origin, destination, and the hours you are looking to travel. At this point I am not sure if they will have the July schedule up yet, but you could look at an earlier date (same weekday) to get an idea of the schedule.

There are some trains that leave around that time of day (8-9AM) which will take you strait to Vernazza. For others, you will most likely have to change trains in La Spezia. But overall, it should take you about 1 hr. 45 min. or so to get there.

Have fun on your trip!
