Help! My camera broke last night in Florence & I need a new one asap!

Dropped my camera by accident & it is broken on day one of my trip. I have like an iphone 1 so can't take pix with that. Where can i get a decent point & shoot (using a Nikon cool pix) today?? Thanks!

ask your lodging host where a store is that sells cameras?

A Tourist Info office may be a resource as well

Joe's advice to ask at your accommodation is probably the best idea but just doing a google, maybe look at Ottica Bongi, Via Por Santa Maria, 82-84, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy. It's close to Piazza della Signoria.

Ottica Fontani Foto is a bit further away:
Viale Filippo Strozzi, 18, 50129 Firenze FI, Italy

New Year's Eve might be affecting open shop hours.

When my husband dropped and broke his camera in Palermo some years ago, we did as others have suggested and asked our hotel for recommendations. They guided us to a place just up the street.

Asking locals is usually the best way, and may be a chance to meet people, as well.

Bongi and Fontana are two good ideas. Another place is the Media World in the Novoli shopping center, board tram T2 at railway station and get down at San Donato stop.

I had a similar "unfortunate incident" during a visit to Florence a few years ago. I asked a few people which photo store they would recommend and was lucky that one of them was a photographer. Based on his recommendation, I ended up buying a new one at Fontani and was very pleased with the service and selection there. As I recall, the sales person spoke a bit of English which helped.
