Help me fill 5 days in Rome!

Day 1: Arrive in the morning and do the heart of Rome walk. Go inside the Pantheon
Day 2: Tour the Colosseum and Forum. After lunch see some sites around the area (Circus Maximus, churches)
Day 3: Tour the Vatican. After lunch, visit Castel SantAngelo, visit a good view point or two
Day 4: Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere. Looking for something else to do, as I’m not sure if this would take the whole day
Day 5: Haven’t decided. Appian Way Bike Tour? Catacombs? Tivoli Day Trip? Ostia Antica Day Trip? Cooking Class?

I know I do not have the Borghese Gallery, but I’m not really into art so that’s why

I'd skip the Vatican instead of the Borghese. Borghese is timed entry, limited number of visitors. 2 hour slot- amazing Bernini sculptures

How about a food tour on Day 3?- break up the tours. Or do on evening tour on Day 4.

You could do pompeii a day with a fast train from Rome.

I second the eating tour especially if you are traveling solo. My food tour was in Trastevere and was excellent

A highlight of my six day Rome trip last April was a Vespa tour with Scooteroma. You ride on the back of the scooter and go all over Rome. It was fantastic.

The Jewish quarter is small but very interesting. I listened to the Rick Steves audio tour and walked myself around.

I also went to the Museum National in Rome which had a lot of great roman sculpture.

And I would also recommend the Baths of Caracalla, which you can get to with a short bus ride. It was a huge public bathing complex used by thousands of Romans a day. It is in ruins but is very impressive.

Agree with Pompeii day trip.

Also, consider the Capuchin Crypts. We did a tour of the Capuchin Crypts and the Catacombs with a stop on the Appian Way. Honestly, I was underwhelmed by the Catacombs (especially in comparison to the ones in Paris), but I thought the Capuchin Crypts were a great mix of creepy and somehow beautiful.

The itinerary you designed is spectacular. I was underwhelmed with both the Borghese Gallery and the National Museum of Rome. The best national museum is in Athens and the art at the Vatican Museum is an eye catcher. I also don’t recommend a day trip to Pompeii from Rome since it requires a train transfer which makes a long day and is never fun.
Your itinerary is jammed packed and will take longer than you think. On day five you may want to finish seeing what’s on your itinerary. Rome is a city with over 300 water fountains with some dating back to 1870. Get lost because Rome is a city with old world charm. There is no other city that rivals Rome.
With that said if you do want to choose something from your list on day five, I would bike along the Appian Way.

I hope you're planning to go to San Clemente the day you tour the Colosseum.

When you say "Tour the Vatican" on Day 3, do you mean Vatican City (including St. Peter's Basilica) or just the Vatican Museums? I ask because (1) you say you're not into art and the Vatican Museums hold 20,000 works of art; and (2) St. Peter's Basilica is not to be missed. It's incredible.

I would suggest adding in a food tour, the Twilight Trastevere offered by Eating Europe will help you tour Trastevere in a different way, which is already on your list.
Trevi Fountain
Spanish Steps and the scene around there
Piazza Navona at night is a lot of fun
I also recommend a kind corny but fun Light show at The Forum of Augustas, they project pictures onto the ancient ruins to fill in the whole picture then do a drama with lights and effects, all outdoors and really cool. Looks like it may only be offered June-October, here is a link: https://www.viaggioneifori.it/en/
We always found that it takes a lot longer than we anticipated to get from point A to point B and once we got there, there was so much more to see, sometimes an outdoor market or performers, or just grabbing a gelato and sitting in a piazza and people watch and just take in the whole scene.

What day of the week is Day 5? Asking because what I really loved last Fall was the Domus Aurea (Nero's Golden Palace which has been buried for centuries) but it's only open Fri/Sat/Sun.

On your Trastevere day I'd recommend stopping in to see Santa Maria in Trastevere and Santa Cecilia in Trastevere.

There have been one or two Comme to on this forum about how rough the bike ride is along the Appian Way. That might be worth some further research.

Be sure to see the Sistine Chapel on the Vatican tour. Also, go up through to dome to the roof.

Other places would be
Trajan's Forum
The Capitoline Museum
Nero's former palace near the Colosseum
There are a couple of historical churches worth seeing.

Piazza Navona and Trevi Fountain
Spanish Steps, and the Catacombs
Ostia Antica is a great day trip but you only have 5 days.

There is more, but you need 8-10 days to see it all.

I am doing the “Privileged Entrance Vatican Tour with Sistine Chapel” with the Roman Guy
