We are traveling to Italy in Oct arriving in Rome departing from Naples. Now, my fiance would like to travel north to CT and Modena (Ferrari) what is the best itinerary? I am freaking out!

Is your fiancé planning on visiting the Ferrari factory? Does your fiancé have a reservation to visit the Ferrari factory? I have read here and on other forums that you must own a Ferrari to be eligible to tour the factory. However, this requirement may have changed, so maybe you should do some research before changing your itinerary. Also, October may not be such a good month to visit CT because of poor weather. If the weather is lousy there will be little to do and the trails will be closed. Buon viaggio,

Why is it your fault? As for Ferrari, the Ferrari Museum in Maranello is now offering its visitors an exclusive guided bus tour inside the Fiorano test-track proving grounds and Viale Enzo Ferrari, an avenue which runs through the cluster of new production and other buildings making up the Ferrari "Cittadella". See http://museo.ferrari.com/factory-and-fiorano-track-tour/ For starters, I would offer the thought of giving up the CT for this visit and instead invest that time in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. That area seems to be a major leg of your trip since have taken the time to plan you exit from Italy at Naples. For the trip to the Ferrairi factory south of Modena, this is an easy reach from Florence althrough Maranello, the home of the factory, does not have a train station.

Thanks for ALL the input. Decided to cut the Amalfi so...... Itinerary as of today: Oct 3-6 Rome Oct 6-8 CT Oct 8-9 Florence Oct 10 Day trip to Galleria Ferrari/Modena by car Tuscany Oct 10-14 Oct 14 Make our way towards Rome Assisi/Orvieto Oct 16 Rome (drop car) Oct 17 Naples
Oct 18 Depart Naples (early flight) Any thoughts.

You did not say where you are getting your car, but I would NOT pick up a car in Rome. It is much easier, to pick one up somewhere north, in a smaller town. I usually get a car in Chiusi, but We always go to Montepulciano, and Chiusi is close. I also like Chiusi, because the rental place is one block form the train station, and it is easy to get to the autostrada. Good luck Ciao,
