My hotel is over by the Rialto Bridge. Will a Vaporetto work or do we have to spring for a water taxi?
the vaporetto does not go to the airport, but one can take you to San Marco where you can get on the Alilauguna shuttle boat and get to the airport. there is one that leaves at 04:50 that gets you to the airport at 6:07 and one departing at 05:50 arrving at 7:07. 6.50 for the vaporetto and 15 euro for the boat. www.alilaguna.it you want Linea Blu A Vaporetto can also take you to Piazzale Roma where you can catch a bus to the airport. Busses start around 05:00 and take about 25 minutes. 6.50 for the vaporetto and 5 euro for the blue ATVO fly bus. www.atvo.it
The vaporetto to Piazzale Roma and then bus to the airport is the cheapest and quite easy.
I had a flight home, about as early as yours, so I booked a water taxi. He showed up at my hotel on time and told me that there was so much fog in the lagoon that all water taxis were cancelled on the lagoon till the fog lessened. I scrambled to Pz Roma and took the bus, which is much faster than the water route in any event, once you get to Pz Roma.
