Help! Group of 30 Needs Hotel Between Venice and Milan

Hi,

I am organizing a trip for a large group of friends and we need a budget friendly place to stay anywhere between Venice and Milan in August. We are hiring a bus so public transportation is not really an issue. Since we are all friends, we are happy to stay as many people to a room as possible (comfortable, but we can squish a bit).

Giving that the above is pretty flexible, we are not flexible about budget (100E/quad room), cleanliness and we will need some meeting space.

Any help and suggestions would be amazing!

Thank you!

This question may be best answered by a travel agent. Finding a hotel at that budget (around 700 euro) that has room for 30 people might be difficult. The cities I think of between Milan and Venice are Bergamo, Vicenza and Padua, but I don't know of any specific hotels in that area. If you choose to find this yourself, I would check booking.com first and search those cities for 8 rooms, 30 people and see what comes up. A few came up that might be in your price range, but I have no clue about cleanliness or meeting space. You would have to check reviews for cleanliness and email the hotel about meeting space.

Between Milan and Venice is a very broad area. Also for what length of time? 30 people is a big group for most hotels. That is 15 rooms, assuming a double occupancy. Some hotels may have triples or quads, but it will be a very limited number of such rooms. Most rooms will be doubles. Finding a hotel with 15 rooms available in August on any vacation spot is going to be extremely hard unless reservations are made way in advance. August is very busy except for maybe Milan, which is a business destination and may be slower in August. I recommend a travel agent because if you try online you won't be able to find 15 available rooms that easily for August 2014. Maybe 2015. You may have to split up in several hotels in the area.

Quad rooms generally have a double bed and two singles, not four beds. And most hotels have only one or two.

With that budget, and desiring quad rooms for for singles, I would look at hostels.

Try booking.com for accommodations in Bologna. I doubt you will find anything in your price range - you seem to require the amenities of a business hotel.

Hello A Elite

Have you organized group travel previously? I think €25 a head will take some doing, even if just for 4 when you need the meeting room included too, in that part of the world, especially for a group of 30. I think it unlikely that the price per person will go down for a coach load, except often the driver and leader are comp'ed.

I repeat the above question of when (mid week or weekend), and where (can you tie down the where at all - I mean what is the stop for?), and especially how long?

Generally for a large group you would be planning now for 2015. Do you mean this August, 2014?

Have you looked into renting a villa? There are many throughout Italy. Rentvillas is one but others can be found on Google.

What happens if you ask a major chain like Accor at the corporate/commercial level?

For August, you'll also need air-conditioning. I'm afraid that at that price range, you're probably looking for a unicorn, my friend. Doubly true if you mean August 2014.

I don't know if one exists that would fit you all, but sometimes convents rent out rooms for a night. Maybe one of those? Or, how about a college dorm in the summer in that area? I don't know of either, but it's a place to start.

I also like the rent a villa idea!!
