Help for a trip in March/April

We are flying into Linate on a Saturday at 12:30 pm and plan to go straight to Venice. Does anyone know how to make this happen and still be at our hotel by 7pm? How long does it take to get through the airport? How often does the shuttle run to the main train station? Should we take a taxi instead? Do we need to book our train ahead of time? Can we book the train at the airport? Can we easily get euros at the airport before leaving for the station? Or should we just spend the night in Milan and take the train the next morning? Thank you for any information you can provide! First time to Italy!

I don't have the specific airport to Venice logistics for you, but....

I wouldn't book a train ahead of time, you would either be starting off stressed trying to make your train or bored while you are waiting around for your train. You can save on the supereconomy fares for the rest of your trip, but just factor in the base fares for this one for ease. The best way to get euros is to withdraw them from an ATM, so I would check on your bank if they have any extra fees for any outside of your network. You can absolutely take the train straight away to your first location, its a easy way to decompress after the long flight and arrive after checkin time :)

We did a similar trip a couple of years ago. Landed in MXP at 12:30-ish and headed to Venice. Different airport, but we had no trouble getting out quickly and had plenty of time to grab a bite, get our sim card for our phone, and hang out in Milano for a bit before catching a train from Milano Centrale at about 17:00 which got us to Venice by about 19:30. Not sure on logistics from Linate to Centrale (looks like just a 20 min jaunt) nor where your hotel in Venice is, but seems you ought to have plenty of time. ATMs are in the airport and easy enough. We pre-purchased tickets (trainline.eu), but knew we had plenty of time to work with.

I think you'll find you have plenty of time to just move from one leg to the next and get to your hotel in time. It makes for a long travel day for sure though.

Does anyone know how to make this happen and still be at our hotel by 7pm? IT'S A UNDER 3 HOUR TRAIN TRIP.
How long does it take to get through the airport? HARD TO TELL. SHOULDN'T TAKE TOO LONG.
How often does the shuttle run to the main train station? BUSES LEAVE EVERY 30 MINUTES AND IT TAKES 25 MINUTES.
Should we take a taxi instead? NOT NEEDED
Do we need to book our train ahead of time? YOU CAN, BUT IT'S HARD TO TELL WHEN YOU'LL GET TO THE AIRPORT DUE TO POSSIBLE DELAYS BEYOND YOUR CONTROL.
Can we book the train at the airport? YES
Can we easily get euros at the airport before leaving for the station? YES, AND ALWAYS USE A BANK ATM FOR LOWER SERVICE CHARGES.

According to this site, there's a bus every half hour to Milano Centrale - central station, that takes about 25 minutes. There are frequent trains to Venice (Venezia S. Lucia), some are direct and take 2.5 hours, others require a change in Bologna and take up to 3.5 hours.

Hello,

Once you fly into Milan take the bus Line 73 aeroporto di linate to p. za emilia and then get off at the stazione centrale via tonale. The bus takes about 30 minutes. Once you make it to that station you can then buy the tickets from Milan to Venice. The train to Venice takes around 2.5 hours. If you have no flight delays getting to Venice by 7pm should be no problem. Here are the websites for the train station below. On the trenitalia I chose a Saturday in March just to give you an idea of the times the train runs from Milano Centrale. I think you can reasonably look at the time tables for the train and get your tickets in advance. I have never had a problem thus far. Just do not cut yourself short on time!

I will be making the same trip in April/May, feel free to message me with any questions. This is our second trip and I plan all my travel independently.
