We’re on the A1 autostrada. Our first stop at the toll booth on E145 heading from sorrento to Napoli didn’t seem to want to accept our credit card. We’re now on A1 heading to Tuscany. I don’t have near enough coins to get us there. Will the A1 work better at accepting credit card? Or what are we doing wrong?
Is it a chip&pin card? If it is, the only possible thing you could do wrong is running it through upside-down. When you can't understand what the voice says, push the UK flag on the display.
There are both manned booths (look for signs displaying an hand taking money) and automatic ones that accept notes (look for a sign with coins and notes).
At manned booths you should be able to use outdated credit cards.
Yes it is a chip and pin. We’ll be sure to look for the manned booth next time just in case. Thanks so much!
