Help - Amalfi Coast Highway construction?

Hi All

My fiancé and I are planning on spending our honeymoon in Italy this May - leaving in a few weeks actually.
I had planned the Itinerary as Venice, Lake Garda, Cinque Terre, Positano, Amalfi, Rome.
However, I have read on other sites lately about highway closures for repair having serious impacts on travel between Amalfi and Positano and am a bit worried that I should modify our plans to avoid this area?
Has anyone else heard of this? Any advise would be most welcome as I do not want to spend our honeymoon stuck in traffic on the highway,

Thanks so much!

Go to the Positano Forum of Trip Advisor. Amalfi girl has a new post this morning. One can take a bus to Positano from Sorrento if you dont wish to use the ferry and once in Positano take the ferry to Amalfi. The road closure is between Positano and Amalfi so use the ferry. The Amalfi Coast is the most beautiful place on earth in my opinion and to view it from the ferry is the very best way to go.

Don't skip the Amalfi Coast! As Nancy mentions - do the ferry. It is gorgeous.

OK thanks so much everyone for your help and advice, I think I will leave the itinerary 'as-is' and try the ferry!

Remember, you can also just walk the 10min. - the bus will let you off before the construction and you walk to the end of it and get on another bus. Don't let it stop your plans!

It is possible to get to Praiano via bus from Sorrento? If not is there a ferry that runs there?

Yes I realize there is normally a bus service, but part of the road is closed. I have read you can take the bus to Positano and the ferry to Amalfi, but I was wondering if the bus was going to Praiano. We were planning to hike from Praiano to Positano.

Thanks,

It looks like the roadworks are on the stretch of road between Praiano and Amalfi.

We had heard all about this before we left---drove the entire Amalfi coast--not one minute of delay. The closure was for 15 minutes at a time starting at 9 am. We we out early and never saw any of it.

The 1.4kM construction area is at or very near to Praiano. Thus, you can get to Positano on the SITA bus. They are supposed to open the road for 15 minutes each hour during the day.
