Heathrow delay arriving in Naples 10pm to Sorrento

Ugh. Our connection was missed in Heathrow. We are now scheduled to get into Naples at 10 pm. Can you recommend the best way to get to Sorrento

Don’t know how late Circumvesuviana runs but probably won’t work for you.

A driver/ taxi is going to cost 150-200 euros if you could even get one at that hour.

I’d book a cheap hotel in Naples near the train station and head to Sorrento in am. ( that’s got to be easier/ cheaper than trying to get there tonight)
Take an official taxi from the airport.

Be sure to let your Sorrento lodging know when you will arrive. Even if you could get there tonight if it’s not a 24/7 front desk that’s an issue.

You can file a claim for the lost night/ extra expense with your travel insurance- assuming you do have travel insurance.

Our flight was scheduled in advance "too late". We stayed downtown, at the Hotel Palazzo Decumani, walked (long way) to the Archaeology Museum and then walked (long way) to the train station for mid afternoon train to Sorrento. Note that the Circumvesuviana train is not for everyone. We enjoyed our half-day Naples.

You need a hotel with adjacent restaurants, so you can get something without long night walking in Naples.

Contact Monetti Taxi in Sorrento. They are in the RS guidebook in the Amalfi Coast section. Send them an email with your details and they will send you a quote. I used them three times in the past and they were great.

You can take a taxi from the airport taxi stand (available 24/7)

€6.50 night flag down+€5 for airport departure surcharge+€0.50 per bag+€0.05 every 48 meters (there are 55km between the airport and Sorrento). Since the destination is extra urban the fare is doubled.

I think the total should be under €130.

Our flight next May isn't scheduled to arrive in Naples until just after 7. Are we in this same boat or is there another option for us to get from NAP to Sorrento?

Anne there is a big difference between 10 pm arrival and 7 pm arrival. I would not worry about it now, but as the trip approaches, you can see schedules for the bus (direct from airport) and commuter train (via Naples train station) at https://www.sorrentoinsider.com/en/e/getting-to-sorrento-italy.
Or you can book a driver to take you--if I was arriving that late, I would lean toward that option (or stay in Naples).

It looks like the last bus leaves at 7:30 so unless we can make a mad dash or we arrive ahead of schedule, we will have to taxi.

Anne, many people don't care for the Circumvesuviana train, so they book a car service for their trip between Sorrento and either the airport or the Naples main train station. Because we got stuck with a 15 Euro taxi for 1/2 mile from the Circumvesuviana commuter station to the Ambacsciatori hotel in Sorrento, it was easy to agree to 95 Euros for a Mercedes sedan (Ambasciatori to Naples rail) on the way home. It was even charged to our hotel bill. Ten years later, the car service is closer to 130 or 150 Euros, I don't know for sure.

We planned in advance to see the Archaeological Museum during our 18 hours in Naples, but some people want to see a lot more there. BTW, even in the last week of May, we were really glad for the icy air conditioning at the Palazzo Decumani (and at the Ambasciatori.)

We used Aldo Limos from Naples to our Sorrento hotel. We had a package deal, but I think it was around 100 euros, but they accepted USD at a fair rate, which was great. Christina in the office is a Brit, so communication is easy. Good luck!
