Heart of Tuscany Drive / day trip

We are considering doing this drive on one of our free days while we are in Tuscany. 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 12.

We will have a 90 minute drive from our villa to Montelpuciano where the drive begins.

For those that have done the drive, do you have any suggestions or alterations that you would do over? In case we can not do the full drive as planned, are there any things that you would suggest that we omit? Conversely- is there anything you would suggest that we add along the way?

Also happy to hear any suggestions for great lunch places along the way. Thanks!

I rode along the Val d’Orcia south of Siena (SR2 then turned left on SP146 to get to Montepulciano) which is said to be the most scenic drive in Tuscany and I believe it https://lovefromtuscany.com/scenic-drives-in-tuscany/. It was the month of Nov and did not get an early start and missed seeing a lot in the beginning due to fog. Once the fog lifted it was nothing but rolling hills with well-maintained farmhouses. I was impressed with how many different landscapes there were. My sister took the drive during the summer and saw lots of sunflowers.

N_Kingdom thanks for the reply and the viamichelin recommendation, I have not used this website before and it's pretty handy. I did a check myself from Cerbaia to Montelpuciano, it is showing me 124km & 1h 32m one way. To me this does not feel like an excessive one way drive to reach a RS 3 star rated experience.

Assume we hit the road at 0800, we are at Motelpuciano at 0930am, we can spend some time looking around town, grab lunch and then set off on the drive around the heat of Tuscany. This led to my original question about what anyone might suggest omitting or adding, depending on how the day is going and when we decide that we want to head back to our villa for dinner.

For context, we will be in a villa outside of Cerbaia for a week, and are planning day trips to Siena, Lucca/Pisa as well as Volterra/San Gimignano.
