Why are we going to Levanto now???
Maryanne, Could you elaborate on your question? Are you referring to a RS tour? Some of the tours always stopped in Levanto rather than one of the C.T. towns. Is that a concern?
Yes, that is my question. I see the other tours are still going to Cinque Terre. What changed our itinerary, we were looking forward to going there. thank you

HI I am guessing here (but from the information you have supplied) I imagine your hotel will be in Levanto which is just one short train ride or hike to the CT towns. That is what happened to us on our Village Italy tour several years ago. We stayed in Levanto and rode the train and did what we wanted to do on our "Our vacation from our vacation" day. It worked out just fine. Plus we had a really good group dinner in our hotel on that Village Italy tour.
For a better answer call the tour department.
Levanto is just one town up from the Cinque Terre. It is on the same train route that connects all the Cinque Terre towns. Levanto is only about a 5 minute train ride from Monterosso. You'll just be staying in a hotel in Levanto. You will still easily be able to hike the trails of the Cinque Terre and visit all the towns. I stayed in Levanto on a Village Italy tour. It is a nice seaside town. I had two absolutely fabulous dinners there (one on my own and one arranged by the tour). I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.
Maryanne, Thanks for the clarification. Some of the RS tours that stop in that area use Levanto, while others use Monterosso or other C.T. towns. As Laura indicated, Levanto is only a VERY short train ride to the other towns so you won't have any trouble getting around the C.T. You could easily have dinner in (for example) Monterosso and be back in Levanto within a few minutes. Levanto is a very picturesque smaller town, and I think you'll really enjoy your stay there. When is your tour taking place? You might ask the Guide why they use Levanto for some tours, and C.T. towns for others. Happy travels!
