Health Insurance for seniors?

I understand that Medicare doesn't cover in Rome and wondering if anyone has any suggestions of health insurance coverage for the trip?? Any negatives? Thanks

If you have a Medigap policy, I'd call them and find out if they will cover you. (This is what I did)

I use imglobal.com for health insurance when out of the country. Fortunately, have never had to use them. You can pick the amount and the deductable(I do $1000) and it is all done on line. You can't get the "extreme sports" rider if over 65!

Medicare does not provide medical coverage for anyone outside of the US. Even if your US Medigap policy covers you out of the country, you need to ask more questions. If you broke your leg, would it pay for you to get back to the US in first class (definitely won't fit in coach)? Take a look at Travel Guard. READ the fine print. Important to purchase travel insurance within the first 2 weeks after you book your trip, so that it will cover pre-existing conditions. Also, if you have a serious health related issue in your immediate family, you can cancel your trip prior to or interrupt your trip to return home and this cost will be covered. Talk to someone who is knowledgable about travel insurance. Bobbie

I use insuremytrip.com and compare policies. If you are only concerned about medical you can specify that.
