Are there "health food" stores in Rome? Specifically, I want to buy protein powder and/or protein bars. Are those things readily available in Rome, or should I try to take them with me from home?

There is a really nice chain of health food stores called Naturasi The site is probably www.naturasi.it and there you will find a map of their locations. Problem is that none are really close to the general tourism circuit. Easiest thing would probably to bring them with you, but if you do get stuck, you can look up Naturasi and wander over.

Thanks Marie. I looked at the maps for stores in Rome on the Naturasi site. It seems like a nice site, but I'm not familiar with Rome so the maps didn't really help me. Thanks for letting me know that the stores are not in the usual tourist areas. I guess I will have to pack what I need and bring it along with me. I was just trying to figure a way to keep from having to check my baggage, and I don't think protein powder would be easy to get through the inspection to get on the plane. Anyway, thanks again for the information. It really helped.
