Heading to Italy

I am heading to Italy for three weeks. I am posting from Paris CDG as I await my flight to Turin.

A couple of things that may help travelers …

I flew LAX to CDG to TRN on Air France. Two days before my flight Air France asked that I upload my CDC card and dPLF (passenger locator QR code). Air France stated they would except only digital forms. AirFrance counter in Los Angeles only needed my passport. I did ask about the forms and the agent just asked if I had them I would be asked in France.

I have everything on digital and on paper including my results for my Rapid Antigen Test done 24 hours before my flight. I believe since I uploaded my CDC and dPLF, no one has looked at any of my paperwork.

I am thinking that maybe when I arrive in Italy, but that’s doubtful because my flight is considered domestic.

Also, I had worried for days about the Rapid Antigen Test. I work with elementary students and that was the cause of my worry.

My advice is prepare everything within the guidelines and feel comfortable to know you did what was asked by the country you are visiting.

I’m happy to have prepared all my documentation as were the guidelines.

Thank you for the report. I find all of the information you provided very helpful! We are not traveling until next spring and a lot may change between now and then. Having said that…you can never be over cautious or prepared. Enjoy the rest of your travels, safely of course.

UPDATE: Right before boarding my flight in Paris, there was a posted sign advising the dPLF was needed to travel. However, when I got to the bii oh adding agent, she asked for my “Covid card” which I assumed correct was my CDC card.
Happy travels everyone!

Yes, many seem disappointed their documents are not checked more.

You submitting the dPLF at the time of filling it out gets it in the database, that is all that is needed. The airlines are responsible for making you aware that you need it, and may check it, or have you upload it, but do not verify the information in it. When you arrive, there is no need to check. Same with your Covid test, most of concern to the airline, as they are designated to check, if you clear that hurdle, no one else really need ask.

It is a little bit the same with the CDC card, except you will need it once you land and start moving around in Society, that is where they are most concerned about your status.

I think your attitude is good, follow the guidelines, do all that is asked, submit where needed, carry paper backup of all of it, and carry on. I suppose someone at arrival could pull you over and ask for your test results or the dPLF QR Code, just as a secondary check. I did see them doing something similar at FCO, but that was very hit or miss.
