My husband and I were in Venice 3 years ago for 2 days and we are heading back in September. I was going to go at the end of the month but then I see there is a famous race on Sept 5th !!. If the prices for the B&B are too much at this holiday time I will go the end of the month. I want to see the wine harvest in the countryside too.
My question to you all is B&B. I have seen some that are asking 180 Euro a night which is way out of budget. I don't need lavish, I need comfy, clean and a nice breakfast. Any ideas I would be very greatful. ALSO...we are going to the " Lake Como area " any ideas of B&B's. That area of Italy I am not familiar with at all but would love to see this much talked about area. We were in Italy last year in May ( Tuscany and Cinque Terre) and I still have a longing to see more.
Thanks Guys,
Pat
Thanks Steve.
I just checked a hotel for the first week in Sept. ( for the Regatta and the price was increased by 475.00 EURO... I was stunned to silence !!

You're talking about the Historical Regatta. We were there for it in 2003 and weren't charged any extra at Pensione Guerrato. It was a lot of fun but difficult to find a place to view it from. The locals turn out en masse to watch it, lashing their boats together all along the Grand Canal. As I mentioned, we stayed at Guerrato and were given instructions on how to get to a decent viewing place. Piero and Roberto are brothers-in-law who run the place. They are awesome! Can't recommend them highly enough.
BTW, a couple of the rooms have a bit of a view of the Grand Canal, but not enough to actually watch the Regatta.
