Having trouble with tours in Rome, this March. Please help!

Greetings fellow Fodorites! I'm writing to express my mild frustration and see if any of you have suggestions for me .. I will be traveling to Rome from 24-31 March and have contacted several tour companies for information / pricing and potential booking of their Colosseum and Vatican tours. None of them have responded to me. I've provided dates, a general idea of what we're looking for and dates - yet still no reply. I can't understand why so many of these tour companies that have gotten such good reputations on other sites are not responding to my inquiries at all. Can any of you provide any contacts or your own tour recommendations for Rome? I'm running out of options and would like to get this squared away before we go. (Is that the right thing to do?) Thanks!!

Since this isn't the Fodor's site. Maybe you are having the same problem in that you are not address the correct sites. I generally find that web sites give enough information to book a tour or are you asking for a custom or private tour.

Here are a few more tour companies to try and contact: Roman Odyssey, Rome Walks, Enjoy Rome and Through Eternity.

Katie, I'm not a "Fodorite", but I'll provide a few comments anyway. Could you provide a bit of further information on what type of tours you're interested in, and the size of the group? You might check your local Library or book stores and have a look at the Italy 2011 Guidebook, as there are listings there for several excellent Guides in Rome. One outstanding Guide that I can recommend is Francesca Caruso (her contact info is listed in the Guidebook). For touring the Colosseum, you might consider using the "in house" guided tours there. Tour members are provided with a headset, so that those at the back of the group can still hear the Guide. I tend to prefer that to an AudioGuide, as it's possible to ask questions of a "live" Guide. I don't have any information on tours of the Vatican, but I'm sure someone in the group will be able to help. Happy travels!
