Hi,
We have an up-coming trip to Rome and want to book a trip for 2 days and 1 night to Venice, and we are having difficulty in booking a train ticket. Do you recommend any websites or agencies in the US? We have already tried Trentalia & Italiarail.
Thanks,
Steve
What date are you trying to book for? You can only book 120 days in advance.

I always use Trenitalia; what is the problem you are having? You need to use Italian station names. You will probably need to go from Fiumicino Aeroporto to Roma Termini and transfer to the train for Venezia Santa Lucia. Trip is about 4-4.5 hours, trains leave FCO every half hour, Termini to Venezia every couple of hours, if not more frequently.
we are planning to book for mid april 2015
just a side note, do you know exactly when you will be needing the train? Because usually the advice is to not buy until you get to the station because you may miss your train as well as you very well may add to your stress for trying to catch a train....BUT yes, the station name is Fiumincino Aeroporto.....it shows fine for me as soon as I type in "Fiu"
I was able to pull up the schedules for mid-April without issue. Unless you're trying to book a solution that has a regional train in it you shouldn't have any issues.
I agree that you shouldn't book your tickets if you are arriving the same day. If the flight is late there could be issues with the tickets. I would just purchase when you get to Italy.

There are only a couple of trains per day that depart direct from Roma Fiumicino airport to Venice. For all other departures, you start with the regional train to either Roma Termini or Tiburtina station and would connect to/book the reserved train from that point, if you decide to book ahead (I'm one who would rather buy in the station). You can't buy the regional train ticket more than a week ahead and there's no benefit to buying it online.
