Have you taken a food tour/crawl in Venice?

Hi all,

I'd like to draw from the experience of Venice-travelers: Has anyone every tried a food tour in Venice? My wife and I had a great experience in Rome on a food tour and I was hoping some have had a similar experience in Venice. We'll be there in June. Thanks!

Yes! We took a very fun food and wine tour with Alessandro, on the recommendation of RS's guidebook. http://www.schezzini.it/

We met at a local square and went to about 3 or 4 bars for cicchetti and wine and ended up at a restaurant on a piazza watching Italy play at Euro 2016.

I agree with Dennis. I took the same tour and added on his "offbeat" tour of Venice. I really enjoyed the tours. There were only 9 for the city tour and 6 for the "pub crawl". He has a great personality and includes interesting information to his tours.

I also enjoyed Alessandro S's cicchetti bar tour, in Dec. 2017. We did eat cicchetti at each of our three stops, but the emphasis was more on the wine and storytelling. The group was small - about 16 people, and was a delightful evening. I also did the Walkabout Venice cicchetti bar tour in summer 2015 (or was it 2016?). The group was about 12 people, and we went to four different cicchetti bars. Here, the emphasis was more on the food and less on the wine, although both were offered at each stop. The food offerings on the Walkabout Venice tour were more varied and interesting, frankly, although we certainly laughed more with Alessandro!

I'll add to the chorus. Alessandro's tour is GREAT fun, and one of my favorite photos from Italy is of me hoisting a glass of prosecco, arm around Alessandro, silly grin on my face at the end of our evening. But if food is your main focus, this might not fit the bill. Yes, we had various cicchetti along the way, but Alessandro's motto for the evening was "Andiamo! Let's drink!"

There were 4 of us on Alessandro's cicchetti tour last year in February, a group of 3 and me. We all had a lot of fun on the tour and the wine flowed liberally but when it was over, we were all hungry and went on to dinner.
