I clipped an article from the NY Times about 2 years ago about Lerici, which is just south of the Cinque Terre. I was wondering if anyone reading the board has been there, and if so what you thought and if there are hotels you could recommend. Eight of us traveled to Italy for two weeks in May. We were going to stay in Monterosso for two nights, but our travel agent strongly recommended Lerici. Since we had rental cars, transportation to the Cinque Terre was no problem. We drove and parked in Riomaggiore. Our group agreed that the highlights of our two weeks were Tuscany for a week, and Lerici for two nights. We stayed at the Hotel Florida. It was great. Right on the beach, with each room having its own balcony overlooking the water. Each night, we enjoyed a comfortable 15 minute stroll along the water into town, and had very good meals both nights. It is a beautiful place to stay! We're surprised it doesn't get very much publicity. If you go there you will not be disappointed.
