Do tourists in Venice wear straw hats or baseball caps for the sun and rain?
The many hat vendors along the waterfront by St Mark's did a brisk business selling hats on a particularly sunny day when I spent a week in Venice last August/September. Those kiosks tended to stock inexpensive but serviceable imported hats whereas somewhat pricier Italian-made straw hats could be found in other shops away from tourist ground zero. Enjoy Venice!
As a woman I do not wear a hat, but I would if I needed to probably a stylish straw hat. My husband is bald and 100% wears a ballcap or a fedora style hat no matter the season and if it is colder he wears a Skip. His all season hat is similar to this:

You can also look at the Live webcams to see what people are wearing in general:

Yes. I'm a tourist and I wore a baseball cap this summer in Venice. It was that or burn my forehead off in the sun. I chose the former.
I've had skin cancer twice. I no longer worry too much about how my hat looks, only that it gives good sun protection. .....
I have tried a few of the more "stylish" ones, but they tend to blow off so I end up with one with a chin strap that is more servicable.
What kind of hat do you wear at home?
Can’t see any reason to get something special just to travel.
We bring baseball caps because they are great to wear under our rain jacket hood and keep the rain off our glasses.
I also have a lightweight fabric floppy sort of travel hat with a chin strap that is nice for warm sunny days or windy adventures like boat rides.
