hate to leave, but we gotta go!

we are planning a late spring trip to Tuscany/Umbria, to see some friends, and their new daughter. We are flying into, and out of Rome. This is not our normal route, and I have never flown OUT of Rome. We will be coming into Rome, or FCO by train, and will need a place to stay for the evening. Our plane out to the states leaves the gate at 11:00am. Can anyone give us some suggestions about where to stay, either Rome or a smaller city close to the airport, a hotel that has a shuttle, or some other route that would be better, ad still get us to the airport on time. Thanks! I look forward to the advice! Jeff

Jeff, As your flight departs at 11:00, there's no reason you couldn't stay in Rome for your last night and then just take the Leonardo Express to FCO (travel time 35M). I normally stay in the Termini area, which is very convenient for getting to the station. DON'T forget to validate your ticket on the Leonardo Express! Happy travels!

The Rome hotels can also arrange a shared shuttle that is very reasonable and dependable.

I agree completely with Ken. For Rome accommodations, see RonInRome.com. He has the best website on just about everything to do with Rome.

Stay in Rome, but get out to FCO by about 8 a.m. Easy to do. Definitely check out roninrome.com.
