Has anyone visited the village of Tuscania?

Photos of this village look absolutely amazing. Would it be worth a visit? Cant find much about it in guidebooks.

It does look beautiful. As do scores if not hundreds of other similar villages in Italy. That's the magical thing about Italy. You could visit every year for the rest of your life, always going to new places, and you'd never run out of amazing places to go. As for Tuscania, I haven't been there, but I see that Franco Zeffirelli filmed Romeo & Juliet and Taming of the Shrew here. Sure sounds like it would be worth a day trip, especially if you have a car. (Rough Guide to Italy has half a page on it.)

Yes, it's worth a visit. There are two lovely Romanesque churches and some Etruscan relics to see. If you want to splurge a bit on a meal, the Hotel Al (Il?) Gallo has a very fine restaurant. Also, it's not too far from Bomarzo, the rather weird, but entertaining monster sculpture park.

I've been to Tuscania this very year. It's terrific. Electrifying. Singular. Best to go by car; COTRAL buses also run out of Viterbo and Tarquinia in less than 30 minutes. The two medieval churches on the edge of town (both badly damaged by the 1971 earthquake) are superlative and quite unexpected in their majestic size.

Wanted to get to Tuscania as well, we never made it. We did make it to Bomarzo Monster Park. Great morning there wandering the park. A nice break from visiting even more hill towns. (don't they all start to look the same after a while?)
