I'm looking at using omtour or Mauro to book an apartment in Rome. Has anyone used them before and if so, was it a good experience.
No one has posted in the last year or two on the Helpline regarding omtour or Mauro. For reference, in two years we get several thousand posts on Italy.
Shelley, I went into the Graffiti wall - Alternative Accommodations 2006 and found a posting under Apartments in Rome Mauro - posted by Kate Kuenstler with a very positive posting and airport pick up included I think. Sounds like a service that I would like to use,
Ciao, Sherry
We used Cross-Pollinate.com for 3 apartments in total, 2 in Rome and 1 in Venice. We were highly pleased, and especially liked their cancellation policy - no penalty if cancelled more than 5 days before arrival. You can also purchase insurance for 10 Euros/stay so in case you can't arrive on the first night for ANY reason, you will not be charged a night's cost for the room. Check them out at cross-pollinate.com
I agree with Valarie, I have used cross-pollinate 2 time before and have loved the apartments. Also, they are an American family living in Rome who run the website.
Shelley, I used Roman Homes, (managed by Mauro (the same one??)). We were collected at the airport and driven to the apartment by a Mercedes; driver with English. There met by an effecient woman who handled the final financial arrangements etc. All good. The apartment in the Monti district was spacious, with a large outside area plus use of rooftop.
