Has anyone used Bolt ride service?

One of the videos we were watching by a vlogger mentioned that they use Bolt instead of Uber more often as Bolt is less expensive.

Wondering if anyone can share their experiences?

Thanks!

I used Bolt in Estonia, where it was founded, a couple of times. Worked perfectly. I've not used it in Italy.

If you've used Uber, it will feel very similar. In some parts of Europe, there are more Bolt drivers than Uber drivers, so you'll get rides more quickly.

Uber doesn't exist in Italy - it is essentially a limousine style or van service or it refers you to local taxis. Bolt appears to operate cars in a couple of small Italian cities - Modena and Reggio Emilia - but generally this not an option.

In Italy you generally use a cab or arrange for a driver for longer journeys or specific trips. In Italy you can only catch cabs at taxi stands or by calling them to your location. There are many taxi apps and no clear winner - check you city for the best local one. AppTaxi has worked well for me in northern cities. There is an additional charge for coming to you but all charges are dictated.

Hope that helps,

As hiredman says those app based car sharing services are allowed to operate only with licensed limo drivers, Uber also has an agreement with ItTaxi App in certain cities, the app of the Italian Radiotaxi Association, so it can be used to summon regular taxis, however, Uber adds a 2.50€ (maybe 3€) per ride, so you don’t really save anything over using the specific city taxi app, which usually carries no extra fee. App based sharing services would probably not work too well in Italy, even if they allowed regular folks to drive their own cars, because Italian cities are full of restricted traffic areas (ZTL) and bus lanes where only taxicabs and licensed limos can enter.
